September 3rd, 2021

Dear PWS Families,

Wow, the first full week of school is in the books! It has been amazing to watch our students get readjusted to life back at PWS and connect with their new classmates and teachers. The building certainly comes alive when we have all of our PWS community back in session. Mrs. Daley and Mr. Robitaille enjoyed their time visiting kindergarten, first grade and second grade classrooms to talk about what makes a strong community. They look forward to working with third and fourth graders next week.

Mrs. Clark’s fourth grade class began the year writing some awesome poetry and displaying it in the hallway for all to see. We can tell the students enjoyed the “I Wish You More” prompt that was provided.

We hope that everyone has a safe and happy Labor Day weekend. This is a reminder that there will be no school on Monday, September 6. Please take a moment to read up on all that is going on at PWS and around the Bedford School District.

Dear PWS Families,

Welcome back to the 2021-2022 school year! The PWS teachers and staff were so excited to be in person with all of our students this week. It was so heartwarming to see so many familiar faces at Meet and Greet on Wednesday. It is always a wonderful opportunity for our students and their families to interact with their new teachers and classmates.

Our hallways were busy on Thursday and Friday as we completed the first two days of school. Classrooms were bustling as students cracked open a brand new school year full of hope and promise. We had some great reactions from students being back at PWS.

A third grade student in Miss Thissel’s class said, ¨I keep thinking I am still at camp instead of school because this STEM activity is so much fun!¨

When asked how his summer was, a second grader responded, ¨It feels like summer was three minutes long, but I like being back!¨

Mrs. Daley and Mr. Robitaille will be visiting classrooms the next two weeks to read stories and complete activities with a community theme! They are both very excited to see all the students and meet with them.

Please take a moment to read up on all that is happening around PWS and the district.

Hello PWS Families,

It is back to school time at Peter Woodbury. Teachers and staff have busy in the classrooms and halls of PWS in anticipation of the 2021-22 school year. The building looks great as the custodial staff prepped the building throughout the summer. Peter Woodbury School also had a new roof installed while the students were away.

We are all so excited to welcome back the students for the first day of school next Thursday, August 26. Please take a moment to view the following video and slideshow presentation with some back to school reminders for our students and families. We hope that you all enjoy the final weekend of summer vacation.

See you all next week!

Dear PWS Families,

It was a very very eventful week at PWS as the school year is beginning to wrap up. Our fourth graders enjoyed Egg Day on Tuesday and Wednesday of this week as they tested their egg carriers in a number of different situations. Eggs were dropped from ladders, flung from a fire truck ladder, smashed with bats, and squashed with a sledge hammer. In the end we had six students make it through the two days with their eggs in one piece. We would like to thank the fourth grade team and the Bedford Fire Department for their assistance in making these days memorable. We were very proud of and impressed by all of the “eggcellent” designs! The school also celebrated field day today and it was certainly a hit. Students in grades one through four went outside to participate in a number of exciting relays and activities to help wrap up the year. Thank you Mrs. Ferenc for all of the planning and preparation and thank you to all of our awesome parent volunteers. Please take a moment to read about end of the year updates from our school and district.

Emergency Broadband Benefit (EBB) program:

At the end of last year, Congress established the Emergency Broadband Benefit (EBB) program. On February 25, the FCC adopted an order to implement the program designed to help low-income households and households that have suffered a substantial loss of income to connect to the Internet and stay connected during the COVID-19 crisis.

The Benefit Includes up to $50/month discount for broadband service from any participating Internet service provider, including Comcast, and is limited to one monthly service discount per eligible household. Both new and existing customers who qualify can take advantage of the Federal government broadband subsidy. The subsidy can be applied to any tier of Xfinity Internet, including Internet Essentials. Internet Essentials customers automatically qualify and will just need to enroll.

New customers should start by confirming their eligibility through the federal National Verifier, at The Emergency Broadband Benefit Program (getemergencybroadband.org).

For more details about the program, please check the following links:

The Bedford School District does not administer this program - you should work directly with Comcast or your Internet Provider. Most of our families do use Comcast, but because this program is nationwide, other providers should also be participating, including the mobile providers.
