Hello PWS Families,

I would like to take a minute to welcome back PWS alumni and welcome new parents.

It has been an awesome first week of school.  We have gone around to talk to the students about the PWS mission words: Community, Inspiration, and Engagement.  The students are so great.  Here are some of their answers to who inspires them: my mom, my dad, my grandma, brothers and sisters,  pets, songs, Legos, Dustin Pedroia, and, my favorite, a tree.

Welcome
We're excited to share with you how the Bedford Education Foundation (BEF) partners with the community to open doors of opportunity for students to help ensure a strong future. We know that it takes many people with a shared vision to help create positive transformation. And when that happens in individual students or in groups of students, it’s magical! Helping people assist students in need, connecting passions with possibilities, and creating lasting legacies…these are the things that drive the BEF. Please browse our Web site to discover areas of interest that stir your heart. Feel free to contact the Foundation to find out more. We always enjoy sharing success stories and helping educators and students follow their dreams.
Who We Are
The Bedford Education Foundation is a non-profit 501(c)(3) and non-partisan organization whose mission is to support academic excellence of the Bedford, New Hampshire public schools by raising and providing funds for the benefit of its students.
Consistent with this mission, the BEF will raise monies from individuals and businesses through an annual appeal and community events, and channel these funds back to the schools through a grants program. Teachers, staff and administrators will be able to apply for grants from the BEF each year.

School Messenger
Just a reminder to all parents; the School Messenger System will call home if your child is absent from school.  Even if you have called ahead of time to let the school know about an illness or vacation school messenger will still make these calls automatically.  School messenger begins calling at 9:30 everyday.  If your child arrives at school after 9:30 school messenger will call your home.

Hello,

Happy First Day of School!  It was a great day for everyone!    During the first couple weeks of school we will visit every classroom to talk to students about the Peter Woodbury School Community.

Your child will probably come home and tell you about the news of the PWS Dining Room.  Mr. Mitchell has asked the students to think about how they might act differently in a dining room as opposed to a kitchen.  The students seemed to grab onto this concept.  In addition, we have moved the tables around so it looks more like a dining room atmosphere.

Here are some pictures to show you how quickly students have adjusted:

One of the many school tours that happened today.

Classes spent the day sharing routines and building a community of learners.  Everyone is really excited to get back to school!

Infosnap
All parents should have received an email regarding completing student information on Infosnap. If you have not done so yet, please sign on with the details given in the initial email, and complete this process. Please note that students will be unable to use iPads or computers until this process is completed. If you did not receive an email or are having problems with this process please contact the main office.

Hello PWS Families,

We hope this finds everyone enjoying the wonderful weather this summer!  We are starting to plan for next school year.  We will be in school in less than a month.  We are really excited to start the school year with returning students and welcoming some new students to our PWS community.  This is the time that we start counting down the days anticipating the children's smiling faces entering our school.

We want to remind everyone that each classroom teacher has a website.  On many of the sites, classroom materials are listed for the upcoming school year.  If they are not and you do not have a class list then please call the main office to get one mailed to you.

As our school year begins, we want to let you know a few things about the upcoming school year.  We are implementing GO binders this year for every student.  Every student was asked to buy a 1 inch binder.  The purpose of this is to help keep the students organized with papers that go back and forth to school.  One folder in the binder will be for parent communication and the second folder will be for homework.  We will be talking more about these at Open House.

A reminder that Meet and Greet is on Aug. 25th from 1:30 to 3:00.  We will open the doors promptly at 1:30.  Just a little bit of advice: everyone seems to come at 1:30 so if some of you came later it would probably be a little less hectic.

An important note from the BHS!

Bedford High School's Theatre Company is performing Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat this Fall and is opening auditions to students from the elementary and intermediate schools.  There are several scenes requiring singing schoolchildren.  If you think your child would enjoy the experience and your family is able to make a commitment to auditioning, rehearsing at the high school, working with a group of older teens, and committing to being in six performances over the weekends ofNovember 13-16 and November 22 and 23, please note the following audition information:

Auditions for school children will be held in Bedford High School's chorus room on Wednesday 9/3 from 4:30 to 6:30 with the possibility of callbacks on Friday 9/5 during the same hours.  The chorus room is located in the corridor to the right of the theater.  There will be high school students there to help organize the auditions.  Your child will be asked to sing a verse of My Country Tis of Thee.   Here is a link to a you tube video of My Country Tis of Thee for your child to practice.

Strong singing ability.
Ability to listen, understand and follow directions.
