Dear PWS Families,
The excitement for next week's Halloween Parade is building in the school. We have had many students already come up and tell us what they'll be dressing as. We can't wait to see the many creative costumes, please remember to leave any weapons, that may be part of a costume at home. The parade will kick off at 1:30. Parents are invited to come and watch. There will be cones set up around the blacktop to let you know where to stand. The parade will start by the Kindergarten doors, come down the driveway then around the blacktop, and reenter the building at the front door. We know it is going to be an amazing event.
We were able to spend some of our time this week in Kindergarten. There is nothing like Kindergarteners singing their Good Morning song to put you in an instant good mood. It was also great to see them learn whether a pumpkin would sink or float.
Last night was our annual Math and Literacy Night. We welcomed over 100 families for fun with math and reading games, Breakout activities, crafts, and read alouds from some Bedford High School friends. Thank you to Mrs. Lombo and Mrs. Leyden for coordinating this exciting evening.  Please enjoy some pictures from this night by following the link below.
On November 8, we will be holding our Veterans Day Assembly. Please click on the two links below for information about this event as well as our Wall of Heroes display.
Have a Great Weekend,

Dear PWS Families,
Last night was one of our favorite nights of the year, the second grade Scarecrow Jubilee. The day began with a parade of scarecrows through the halls, and culminated with the celebration last night. The creativity, time, and effort that is put into these scarecrows is remarkable. In addition to celebrating the students we are also able to support a local charity, Families in Transition. Last night's Jubilee raised over $ 800 for FIT. Great Job and thank you to all our second grade teachers, students, and families for making this event such a success.
Yesterday was also a reminder that sometimes weather gets in the way of our normal operations. While we dodged an event yesterday, it served as a great reminder to make sure your information is up to date in Powerschool. This updated information will ensure that you will get information about delays and cancellations as we enter into the ever unpredictable New Hampshire Winter.
Have a Great Weekend,
Cheryl Daley, Principal

Dear PWS Families,
It was a short week, but it certainly wasn't short on learning or energy. It is hard to believe we are already at the mid point of October. In just a few weeks, we will be having our Halloween Parade and shortly thereafter Parent Teacher Conferences will be taking place. Please be sure to keep checking this blog for the most up to date information.
Today during lunches we were able to get in and talk with the students about food allergies. Every year we have this conversation about being kind, respectful, and aware of those who may have these food allergies and sensitivities. Here is the video (you will need flash player)that was shown. We encourage you to continue this conversation with your child at home.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT
The PTG has been able to supply elementary schools with bus tags for kindergarteners and first graders, fund the Museum of Science pass (available at the Town Library) and make donations to school nurse and guidance departments at all six Bedford schools. These are just some of the great things your support has helped us accomplish so far!

October 4, 2019
Dear PWS Families,
This week brought many exciting learning opportunities to our students. The fourth grade classes began their field trips to the Little Brick Schoolhouse. It is safe to say learning about 19th century schooling was an eye opening experience for them. Third graders continued their discovery of the "wonderful" world of Bats, while our first and second grade classes had the opportunity to learn about Fire Prevention and Safety from our friends at the Bedford Fire Department and their Fire Safety Trailer.
We know there are a few families that live very close by to school and enjoy walking to and from school. While this is a nice activity, we also are on roads that do not have a sidewalk, nor crosswalks. Please use the greatest amount of caution if you chose to walk to school and please do not let any children cross either street without a parent with them while crossing.
It is officially October and this month will bring many exciting events like our Scarecrow Jubilee, Math and Literacy Night, and Halloween Parade. Please be sure to pay attention to this and upcoming blogs for more details about these fun filled activities.
Remember that this week coming up is a short week, with no school on Friday or the following Monday.
Have a Great Weekend,

Tripod Survey Information
Between October 7th and October 25th, the district will administer the "Tripod Survey" to students in grades 2 - 12 (grade 1 will participate in the spring).  For the elementary schools, this includes "specials" (i.e. art, music, library and physical education) as well as enrichment.  This survey asks for the students' perspectives on our teaching practices. All survey responses are anonymous and confidential.  The purpose is to use this feedback to help our professional staff continue to improve. This year, parents were able to provide permission for their child to take the survey through InfoSnap registration.  If you opted your child out of the survey, please know that we will make other arrangements for him/her during the time that his/her class is taking the survey.
If you would like to view the surveys, please click on the links below.
