Peter Woodbury School- A Place Where People Care!
November 22, 2019
Dear PWS Families,
Today is one of our favorite days of the year because it is our annual Kindergarten Thanksgiving Feast. It is amazing how many parents, family, and friends come out and enjoy this celebration of food, song, and our wonderful kindergartners. It definitely puts us in the right frame of mind to go into the Thanksgiving Week. We look forward to welcoming our first grade parents this Monday for Visitation Day.
As we go into next week we want to take a moment to express our thanks to all of you. Peter Woodbury School is a truly special place to work and come to everyday. In the short time we have had this year, your support has made such an incredible impact. From Its a Gas to the Book Fair and everything in between we truly could not do what we do without you. We are forever grateful for you.
With Thanks,
Cheryl Daley, Principal
Dan Mitchell, Assistant Principal

Peter Woodbury School Food Drive
During this time of year we are increasingly aware of how fortunate we are to have good friends, loving families, a place to call home, and food to eat. Unfortunately, we know that so many in our community are not as fortunate, and we feel that there is something we can do to help. Since we know that food banks are always in need of food, Peter Woodbury is holding a food drive for the New Hampshire Food Bank, as well as the Bedford Community Food Pantry.
This year, we will continue to partner with the Bedford Community Food Pantry in providing food for their School Lunch+ program.  This provides backpacks on Fridays with food for students over the weekend. This month, we are collecting single serving juice bottles (no glass please). (Bedford Community Food Pantry- School Lunch+
Students can start bringing in canned goods, dry goods, and any other non- perishable food items the Monday after Thanksgiving (December 2). Contributions are not required and we are aware that there are so many different ways, events, issues, and causes to donate to and one family certainly cannot do it all. We'll kick off our food drive with a one item, small donation on Monday, December 2. When 500+ kids each do something small it adds up very fast; together we can make a difference. Next week, we'll target items that are of particular need by having theme days (listed below). All nonperishable items are appreciated and accepted. Thank you for considering this important effort and we wish everyone the best during the holidays.
Monday (12/2) - Any item “Together we can make difference!”
Tuesday (12/3) - Juice
Wednesday (12/4) - Canned vegetables or fruits
Thursday (12/5) - Soup
Friday (12/6) - Peanut Butter and Jelly
Monday (12/9) - Mac and cheese

Peter Woodbury School- A Place Where People Care!
November 15, 2019
Dear PWS Families,
Parent teacher conference week is one of our favorite times of the school year. It is nice to catch up with you all as you come to hear about the progress your child has made and witness the great work that has been done. It is another reminder of the incredible families we have at PWS that make it such an amazing school.
This week we got a little sneak peak at what Winter will be like. With the temperatures tumbling, please remember to make sure your child is dressed appropriately for outside activities. We will go outside if the temperature is over 20 degrees, but that is still pretty cold. Our teachers and staff do a fantastic job of coordinating the many layers the children need to be comfortable outside and then productive and engaged inside.
Kindness was all over the school this week as we celebrated part of National Kindness Month. Each day began with a kindness message as part of the morning announcements. Also, during this week, classes chose other classes to perform random acts of kindness for. These random acts of kindness came through in special notes written, songs sung, and one class even received fortune tellers.
A reminder that student report cards are now available on the Parent Portal. You can log on and see your child's report card for the first quarter. If you need directions on how to log onto the portal please click HERE

November 8, 2019
Dear PWS Families,
This morning's weather seems like the perfect way to remind everyone that Winter is coming. As you all know, Winter in New Hampshire can be quite the unpredictable event. It is always our intent to get the students out to recess as best we can. The students will go out to recess if the temperature is above 20 degrees. Please plan and dress the children accordingly. With that said, we often experience major temperature shifts throughout the day, so please do your best to provide the options they may need so that they can go out comfortably and enjoy the fresh air.
Student report cards are now available on the Parent Portal. You can log on and see your child's report card for the first quarter. If you need directions on how to log onto the portal please click HERE
We often get questions about absences and tardies. Mrs. Daley has recorded a video to help answer some of those questions. Please click HERE to see the video.
Finally, we ended our day today with a moving Veterans Day assembly. We thank the many Veterans who were able to join us and be an example for our students. In honor of this holiday, the students dismissed today in silence to remember those that served and serve for us. We thank and honor all the Veterans that are in one way or another a part of Peter Woodbury School.

Peter Woodbury School- A Place Where People Care!
November 1, 2019
Dear PWS Families,
Yesterday's Halloween festivities will not soon be forgotten. All of the creative costumes were the best part of the day. Thank you to everyone for your understanding and flexibility as we had to move the event indoors this year. Even with the sudden changes, it still went off without a hitch.
Today, we were able to get outside and enjoy some recess with our first graders. The best part was watching many of them learn to master the monkey bars. As each child swung there was a whole team of friends chanting their name and encouraging them to take on the new challenge. Later, these same first graders turned our dining hall into a Penguin Palace where they pretended to be wearing fancy clothes and practiced their finest dining room manners.
This week our second graders had the opportunity to travel to Beaver Brook Science Center. They learned about 3 different types of habitats (wetlands, Forest, Field), who lives in them, and got some hands on experience of the differences found in each one. They also learned what to do if we spot a black bear,  the difference between beaver lodge vs. beaver dam, and the difference between an herbivore, carnivore & omnivore. Here are some pictures of this experience.
Remember, our Veterans Day Assembly is coming up soon. Please click the link below for more information about how you may be able to take part and help us out with this outstanding event.
Finally, we have added a book to our front lobby that we hope you will help us write. When you have a moment, please feel free to write us about your favorite moments at Peter Woodbury School. We want to capture the stories, experiences, and memories that make PWS such a special place.

Have a Great Weekend,
