Peter Woodbury School-A Place Where People Care!

September 24th, 2020

Dear PWS Families,

We had another awesome full week at PWS as the students and teachers are beginning to dive in and make headway into the curriculum. We can tell that everyone is starting to feel more comfortable and back in the groove in this unique year. It has been exciting to see students learning outside and while they may need to battle some bugs or a slight breeze the outdoor space has proven to be an enjoyable setting to learn. Teachers have been creative in getting their students outside to get masks breaks and try out new lesson ideas! Physical Education has been exciting for the students as they have learned how to play socially distanced broom-ball! The students handled picture day like pros and looked sharp in the process! Please take a moment to read up on all that is going on at Peter Woodbury School! We wish you all a safe and happy weekend!

Open House:

Thank you for helping make Open House a success! We were delighted to virtually host families so that they could learn more about the school and how PWS is navigating this unique start to the year.

Peter Woodbury School-A Place Where People Care!

September 18th, 2020

Dear PWS Families,

The school year continues to ramp up at Peter Woodbury School! Students have been busy digging into their new curriculum for the 2020-21 school year. Whether in person or virtually the students have been responding with great efforts in helping to make the first few weeks a success. Mrs. Daley and Mr. Robitaille have been actively visiting all of the classrooms and speaking with the students about some of the changes at PWS and examples of how we can be kind to one another. Students have created a great list of acts of kindness including one kindergartener who taught their class how to give someone a marshmallow hug (air hug)! Even in these uncertain and challenging times a simple gesture of kindness can go a long way and make someone’s day! Feel free to talk with your child(ren) about some of the other interesting and unique ways of being friendly that were generated with their class!

Dear PWS Families,

It has been a fabulous first full week at PWS! It continues to be a joy to welcome our students back into our physical and virtual classrooms!

Please take some time this weekend to praise your students for making the first seven school days as smooth as possible. The PWS staff has been raving about how resilient our students have been adapting to the changes that are put in place to keep everyone safe. It is wonderful to see both the district’s hybrid and remote models up and running with happy and engaged students!

Please take some time to look at our most current updates, events and notes. We wish everyone a happy and safe Labor Day Weekend.

* Please be mindful that Peter Woodbury School is also closed on Tuesday September 8th for New Hampshire State Primaries. We will welcome back our A-K cohort on Wednesday, September 9th and our L-Z cohort on Thursday, September 10th.

We have resumed our normal dismissal time for parent pickup beginning at 2:20pm. We encourage you to please refrain from arriving on the school property until 1:50pm. Thank you for your cooperation and patience.

Travel Reminder

As we enter the long Labor Day weekend, please keep in mind the NH DHHS travel regulations, which the Bedford School District is following:

NH residents...traveling to/from areas outside of New England...need to self-quarantine for the first 14 days.…(starting from the last day of their travel outside of New England). This recommendation is irrespective of the mode of transportation for travel.

Also, students cannot test out of quarantine with a negative COVID-19 test.  They must complete the entire 14 days. Please take a look at our Quarantining Protocol/Flowchart for more information. In order to ensure the health and safety of our students and staff, it is essential that we adhere to the policies and procedures outlined in our Hybrid plan.

Chromebooks

Students in grades 1-4 have been sent home with a Chromebook and charger this week. Please keep the charger at home until we ask for it to be returned. This will allow your child to charge their Chromebook each day before bringing it back to school. Please note that your child may not have work to complete using their Chromebook each distance learning day but we would like them to get into the habit of bringing it between home and school each day. If your child has a personal Chromebook at home (just for them to use), then feel free to allow him/her to use that one and the school issued Chromebook/charger can be left at school to use for in person days. If you have any questions you can reach out to your child's classroom teacher or our Digital Learning Specialist Mrs. Cassamassino (cassamassinon@sau25.net)
