Dear PWS Families,

As one of our students put it, PWS was a “Spooktacular” place to be this week as many fun activities were enjoyed by students and staff to celebrate Halloween! Please take a moment to check out this quick video to see the awesome second grade scarecrows that were put together by our children! We applaud the creativity of our second grade students and are so happy that this tradition got to continue this year! Staff members also enjoyed all of the fun costumes that our students dressed up in throughout the week! We also saw our first snowfall of the year! Although this storm was a bit unexpected we strongly encourage families to send their students dressed appropriately for the weather. Warm clothing and boots will be required to help get the students outside and staying dry so that they can comfortably return to their academics! Please take a moment to read the current news and updates from the school and the PTG. We hope that everyone has a safe and relaxing weekend!

PWS NEWS:

Contact Tracing through NH DHHS

It has been our experience lately that NH DHHS is very delayed in contacting families with contact tracing information, and as a result, it’s possible that students come to school without knowing they have been in close contact with a COVID positive person (and should be quarantining).  Please know that if your child has been contact traced as a result of contact within school, you will be called by the school (most likely, Sammie Ewing, our nurse) rather than wait for DHHS.  However, if the contact happens outside of school, we will not know about it.  My ask is that if your child tests positive, you contact the parents/guardians of any child who has been contact traced as a result of outside of school activities, so that the child can quarantine and/or get tested in a timely fashion.  Hopefully, things will slow down soon at DHHS.  Thank you!

School Closings and Delays

If school is to be closed or if there is a delayed opening, the District will notify parents/guardians using the School Messenger Notification Service. This system will send a telephone call to the primary emergency number, email message and/or text message designated by the parents/guardians at approximately 5:30 AM.  In addition, the following television stations will be contacted: WMUR TV (Channel 9, Manchester), and BCTV (Channels 16 and 22).  It is also posted under News and Notes on the District website and District Facebook page.

If it is necessary to call a 2-hour delay in the start of school, buses will make their normal pickups 2 hours later than the usual time and the morning kindergarten classes will be cancelled. The school day will end at the regular time.

Dear PWS Families,

It has been a very busy and productive week in the hybrid and remote classrooms at PWS! Spooky and festive activities are beginning to take shape as we approach the end of the month. The third graders have been acting as realtors creating haunted houses to sell to clients! The children have been working hard and using some creative imaginations to get into the spirit of the season. We would also like to take a moment to thank you for parental support in monitoring the health and safety of our students. As a school, we will continue to be monitoring our students and staff for COVID-19 symptoms. It is imperative to take a moment and review the Parent Infographic for COVID-19. We wish everyone a safe and happy weekend!

Dear PWS Families,

We had another great week at PWS! While we did battle some much needed rain, the students still found time to get outside with their peers and teachers! It is hard to imagine that we are already half way through the month of October! Time sure has been flying by as we have all been navigating this unique school year! It has been wonderful visiting classrooms and observing how the students are becoming much more comfortable speaking “through their masks” and having some great conversations with their classmates. Teachers have been working hard creating respectful and caring communities in their classrooms through morning meetings and other techniques to help form strong relationships. Please take a moment to catch up on some of the news and happenings from PWS! Have a safe and happy weekend!

October 9th, 2020

Dear PWS Families,

A happy Friday to you all! We would like to begin by thanking the PWS community for your continued support throughout the beginning months of this school year. It has truly been wonderful to observe students making growth and achieving goals during the first month and a half of school. Your children have been working very hard both in the classroom and remotely and their effort shows. Festive student art work is beginning to occupy the halls at PWS especially by our kindergarten classrooms! The children have done a nice job making the walls "pop" and come to life. We hope that all families find some time to rest and relax with an extra day over the weekend. Please take a moment to catch up on some of the news and happenings from PWS!

From the Library:

Some students are having a difficult time remembering to return their books on their library day.  If this happens, your child will choose new books during their library time.  We will hold the books behind the circulation desk in the library.  The next time your child comes to school, they can swap their old library books for their new ones.  It's important to us that students feel a sense of ownership in their library time and choose books that capture their interests.

Happy reading, Mrs. Baldi
