PWS PrinciPal’s News
Dear PWS Families,

Thank you to everyone who attended our annual PTG Principals’ Winter Read Night. It was an enjoyable event for all involved. Events like this remind us how special it is to work in a town like Bedford. We continue the celebration of reading tomorrow at Barnes and Noble as part of the PTG Barnes and Noble Days. We will be reading at 12:00 and 12:15. We hope to see you there to help support our PTG.

As winter goes on and weather plays a factor, we have noticed an increase in parents dropping their children off at the front of the building. We want to take this time to remind you of a few things: 1. Please use the back parking lot for student drop off until the flag goes out at 7:55. 2. If you have missed parent drop off and need to use the front entrance then you must park your car and walk your child into the front entrance. If it is 8:00 you must also sign your child in, since they are now considered tardy.

Finally, 2nd Quarter Report Cards are now available for viewing. If you log on to the Parent Portal you should be able to view your child’s progress. If you don’t remember how to access the Parent Portal here are directions.

Have a Great Weekend,

Cheryl Daley, Principal
Dan Mitchell, Assistant Principal

From the Community
Dear Parent/Guardian:

Some students at Lurgio Middle School have come up with an idea to help support elementary age children as they learn to navigate the ZONES  of Regulation (as part of the Bedford NH guidance curriculum K-4).
Their idea is to organize and host a community event, where together, older students mentor younger students and their families, during the sing-a-long portions of a Disney favorite. We plan on showing the Disney movie “Frozen” as part of a leadership activity for the Students Against Destructive Decisions Club and students in the Life of a Lion Program. Please register attendees by clicking here.  Be sure to indicate the adult(s) who will supervise your child.
Space is limited and registration is encouraged.  Water and popcorn will be available.  Feel free to bring your own snacks!

"FROZEN"

Snow Day Lunch Info./Announcements
Some parents across the district have asked if there is a rule of thumb when determining the lunch menu on the day following a snow day.  There is no rule, as the menu for that day is dependent upon what was on the menu the day of the snow day, what prep the kitchen had to do, and what fresh produce the kitchen had ordered.  Therefore, our district’s Food Service Director (Emily Murphy) has decided to provide an announcement on the SAU’s website (www.sau25.net) in the District News box, which will detail, by school, what the hot lunch offering will be the day following the snow day.  This information will be available the day of the snow day.

PWS PrinciPal’s News
PWS Families,
It was another week with another snow day. We are quite impressed with how flexible and resilient the students have been with all of these weather events. Despite the interruptions these days cause, the students still show up ready to learn and work hard, for this we are grateful.
Today marks the end of Quarter 2. The teachers are working hard to fill in the report cards and make their comments. The Powerschool Parent Portal is currently closed to facilitate this process. The portal will be opened and you will be able to view your child’s report card starting next Friday at 2:45. We will include directions for signing in to the ParentPortal in next week’s blog and on our school Facebook page.
We look forward to seeing as many of you as possible this coming Thursday evening at the Annual PTG Principals’ Winter Read. We have our book picked out and are working on our acting skills. We are sure that this will be an enjoyable evening for all that are involved. We hope to see you at the 4:30 or 6:30 readings.
Finally, congratulations to our fourth grade Spelling Bee Winner, Nathan Edwards. Nathan won the Spelling Bee in the 20th round, correctly spelling the word oceanography. Congratulations also to Irene Tsai for earning second place. The fourteen participants in this year’s bee should feel very proud for what was an intense, fun, and intelligent Spelling Bee. Thank you to Mrs. Speaker and the fourth grade teachers for coordinating this event.

Have a Great Weekend,
Cheryl Daley, Principal
Dan Mitchell, Assistant Principal

PWS PrinciPal’s News
PWS Families,
This week we were graced with two wonderful performances. First, on Wednesday the 75 members of the Fourth Grade Chorus put on a wonderful show for our delight. Special congratulations go to Mrs. Curran and the chorus for this great event. Then on Thursday, Mrs. Stallone’s second grade class performed a theatrical version of Jan Brett’s The Mitten. Mrs. Stallone and her class worked very hard for this excellent performance. It is events like these that remind us of what a special place Peter Woodbury School is. Speaking of special Peter Woodbury community events, remember to mark your calendars for February 8 so you don’t miss our annual Family Fun Night.

Have a Great Long Weekend,
