Hello PWS Families,
Happy Halloween!  As you can see below today was a happy time for children and staff!  The spirit we have in this school is wonderful!

PWS Happenings
Make Life Sweeter Candy Drive
Monday and Wednesday (November 2nd and 4th) after Halloween with the help of a BHS student, we will be conducting a week-long post-Halloween candy drive. All of the collections will be donated to the New Horizons Soup Kitchen in Manchester. New Horizons gratefully uses these donations as dessert when they serve the homeless, and they also pass it along as a night-time treat to those homeless guests staying in the shelter. The goal of the drive is to make life a little sweeter for those less fortunate. All donations can be placed in the marked box in the front lobby which will be collected at the end of the school day on Wednesday.

Veterans Day Celebration
PWS will be having an All School Meeting on Tuesday, November 10th at 1:30 to celebrate Veterans Day.  We would love to involve students' family members that are veterans or active military in this event. Please spread the word, as well, to anyone you would like to attend this event.  More information will be coming regarding signing up.

Dear PWS Families,
Hello we are counting down the days until our Halloween parade. Seven days to go and you can feel the excitement in the air at PWS. Another cute story: I was sitting at a table this week with four Kindergarten students, I love to just sit and listen. The topic of the group was who had the sharpest pencil. We completed another fire drill yesterday and exited the building and all students and adults were accounted for in 4 minutes! This week we focused the lunchtime talks on Food Allergy Awareness. The messages were about understanding food allergies and today the students were shown a video regarding food allergies, the second grade will see this video on Monday.

Hello PWS Families,
Here are a couple of stories that I hope make you smile.  One little girl was getting out of her car, the duty teacher told the parent to have a nice day,  but the girl responded, "He is not going to have a nice day he works at a bank!"  Last year we decided that the cafeteria would now be The PWS Dining Room. The change in name means a change in behavior, because we act differently when we are in a dining room. We have been in the dining room this week reminding the students of appropriate behavior. When we asked them what they should act like in the dining room some responses were, "To sit on our bottom", "Clean up our mess", "Talk quietly", "Be respectful" and "Listen to others."  Were were highly impressed with these responses.  It would be helpful if you have a conversation with your children about dining room behavior.

Hello PWS Families,

Happy Friday!  It has been another exciting week at PWS!  This week I was in a class and observed fourth graders during writing.  I learned how well fourth graders can write.  One student was on the ending of the story and I told her to make sure she shares it with me!  I left reading the story right at the climax of the story.  I also learned that some fourth graders do not like it when you read over their shoulder.  Today, was class parent/teacher luncheon which helps our teachers and parents have a chance to talk and share the classroom calendar of events for the school year. Thank you to all the parents for helping with this event.
