We are a community that inspires and develops, engaged, successful learners every chance, every day.

Peter Woodbury School-A Place Where People Care!

April 23rd, 2021

Dear PWS Families,

We had such a fun Friday at PWS celebrating our Superheroes Day! Students and staff came in with some great costumes, some even equipped with capes. Our fourth graders also got to watch their jump rope performances on video at lunch. Thank you Mrs. Ferenc for putting together a great experience for our jumpers.  Several classes in second grade had the opportunity to build sail cars and test how far the wind could carry them down the hallway. The students were very excited to show off their inventive ideas. We would like to wish everyone a safe and happy April vacation. We look forward to seeing everyone in a week and finishing the school year with some great memories. Please take a minute to read about all that is going on at PWS and in the school district.

PWS News:

For Parents of Remote 3rd and 4th Graders:

Art supplies from Mrs. Piantedosi for the lesson that will be posted on 5/3 will be available for pick up on Friday 4/23 and throughout vacation in the PWS vestibule. If you are traveling, they will still be available beyond vacation. Please pick up one envelope per 3rd or 4th grader.

DONATE YOUR OLD SHOES, PURSES AND BAGS:

Destination Imagination is having their special shoe/bag drive through Ecosmith Recyclers. From now until the end of May, you can donate all of your old pairs of shoes, boots, sneakers, heels etc and purses/bags (no flip flops or cleats). Ecosmith no longer accepts old shoes that cannot be reworn or broken zippers. It  is important that the special blue or green bags are used and these can be found in the school vestibule, OR through our DI Coordinator, Marie Russell. You can deposit the bags directly into the bin in the school parking lot. Note: if your bag is too full, it will not fit in the slot. Also, if you find the bin full, please let Mrs. Russell know. We would also like to remind you that clothing, fabrics, stuffed animals, etc. can always be donated year round in this bin. As always, Bedford DI appreciates your support. For more info on where your donation goes, click here. Mrs. Russell's email is bedfordrocksdi@gmail.com

Thank you for your support and happy spring cleaning!

Important reminders from the Health Office:

If your child exhibits any Covid-19 symptoms, your child should stay home and it is strongly recommended to have your child tested.  Your child may return to school once your child is feeling well, 24 hours symptom free without fever reducing medication and has a negative covid test.  Please check with the school nurse to be cleared to return to school.

Allergy season is upon us with the warmer days we have been having. If you child has seasonal allergies, please get a note from your child’s pediatrician for the nurse to keep on file for this school year.  DHHS recommends testing for any new or unexplained symptoms.

We wanted to update you all regarding the new travel guidelines that have been released from NH DHHS.  Any travel increases a person’s risk of getting infected and spreading Covid.  DHHS continues to discourage travel, and encourages post travel testing.  Here is the detailed information regarding DHHS travel guidance and here is the full NH COVID-19 Travel Guidance. Below are the highlights:

  • Domestic travel within the US no longer requires quarantine upon return to NH (this includes domestic travel to US territories)

  • Even though a person may not be required to quarantine after Domestic travel, the CDC does suggest that people seek testing 3-5 days after travel for asymptomatic SARS-CoV-2 infection;  testing is recommended and helpful to identify positive cases- testing by  PCR is recommended. Your child may attend school while awaiting their PCR test for domestic travel if asymptomatic.

  • International travel continues to require a 10 day quarantine, or a 7 day quarantine with a PCR test on day 6-7 with a negative test result.

  • Travel on a cruise ship also requires a 10 day quarantine, or a 7 day quarantine with a PCR test on day 6-7 with a negative test result.

  • Everyone who chooses to travel, regardless of vaccination status or prior immunity, should wear a well fitted, multi-layer face mask, physically distance (i.e. maintain at least 6 feet from other people), avoid large groups and gatherings, frequently sanitize hands, and self monitor for symptoms.

  • If  your child is symptomatic after travel your child should isolate and get tested, and parents inform the school nurse.

Peter Woodbury School-A Place Where People Care!

April 16, 2021

Dear PWS Families,

We hope everyone stayed warm today as we got a fun reminder of what living in New England means. Our fourth grade students began SAS testing this week and did great. As always they made us proud as they put their best effort forward. First, Second and Third graders began their Gates assessments. It was great to see some of our remote learners come to PWS for this testing. We sure had missed seeing them in the building. Please be reminded that April vacation is coming up and there will be no school from April 26th-April 30th. Classes will resume on Monday, May 3rd. There are some important notes in today’s Principal News, if possible, please take some time to review what is going on around our school and district. Thank you for your continued support.

BSD Mask Policy:

Please take a moment to read this LETTER from the SAU.

American Heart Association:

Thank you all for your donations to the American Heart Association.  Peter Woodbury students helped raise funds for kids with special hearts while learning how to take care of their own. You all also helped PWS earn new PE equipment and cash rewards!

Ninety students joined our school Heart hero team this year.  Our schools raised $7,230.04 to help a lot of hearts.  If your child donated to the American Heart Association their thank you gifts are on the way and they will be delivered to your child as soon as possible.

Thanks for all of your support!
