Dear PWS Families,
Week One of remote learning is now in the books. We thank everyone for their patience, understanding, and cooperation as we figure this out together. We can not tell you how warm it made our hearts to see the many pictures posted yesterday of all your pets. Mrs. Cassamassino will be sending out these different "Spirit" Days as we continue, so please pay attention to our Facebook page. If you haven't heard yet, the Governor announced yesterday that remote learning will take place until at least May 4th. We will however still be having April Vacation! We are committed to doing whatever we can to make this process as easy and stressless as possible so please reach out and communicate your needs to us.
We miss you and can't wait to be with you all again,
Cheryl Daley, Principal
Dan Mitchell, Assistant Principal

PWS NEWS
Google Hangout/Meet
As you know, permission was requested this week for students to be able to participate in Google Hangouts/Meet with their teachers starting on Monday.  If you have not filled out the form yet, please do so. This is an optional tool for teachers to use if/when they feel it would be beneficial to students’ instruction.  If a teacher chooses to use this tool with their class or a group of students, he/she will only be using it with students for whom parent/guardian permission was granted.  If you have any questions about it, please contact your child’s teacher.
Playgrounds Closed
In an attempt to prevent the spread of COVID-19, all district playgrounds and school yards are closed at this time. While this decision pains us greatly, we hope that with everyone's cooperation we can all be back to playing and enjoying our magnificent school yard as soon as possible.
Library News
I have been collecting links to resources for free ebooks and audiobooks so that students can continue to read for pleasure.  I have also collected links to online storytimes and author read alouds so that students can have access to engaging stories. To learn all about these, please visit my blog at https://sau25baldia.blogspot.com/.  I know this is a stressful time for many families.  Reading for pleasure can be a calming and relaxing experience, and we can all use more of that.  Stay well, Mrs. Baldi

Dear PWS Families,
Good Evening. We are now at the point where Remote Learning is about to begin. Everyone involved with Peter Woodbury School has been amazing in the face of this unknown adventure we are about to go on. This week saw paras working to get Chromebooks available for students, teachers working together to plan lessons, custodians cleaning the building, parents and students reaching out, and the digital learning specialists and tech team leading it all. We are so impressed by how everyone came together to make the best of this situation. It was a true testament to how special PWS is!!!!!

Starting Monday and for the duration of the Remote Learning, you will receive a daily email asking you to report your child present or absent. Please take the time to fill in this form each day by 12:00.

We will continue to send out this blog in order to connect you with resources, streamline communication, and keep you informed.
Below you will find some helpful resources related to remote learning.

A sign will be along the sidewalk as it has been this week.

Dear PWS Families,
This past Tuesday the voters spoke and their decision was clear: Mr. Mitchell should be duct taped to the wall. Thank you to everyone who came out and voted we received 197 votes!!! We will be sure to keep you updated as to when the duct taping will occur.
Today we celebrated our many Destination Imagination teams. Unfortunately, their competition has been canceled, but that didn't stop us from celebrating all of their hard work and creativity. Great work teams, we are so proud of you!

Last year, Sherry Arp, a former parent, created beautiful painted artwork to decorate our school. During February Vacation, we were finally able to hand these wonderful pieces. Thank you Sherry for these wonderful additions to our building. Here are a few examples:

Finally, out of an abundance of caution the district has decided to cancel or postpone all extra school events until April Vacation. At PWS, this includes our Daughter's Night Out and our Art Show.  Checks for Daughters Night Out are being sent home today. We will do everything in our power to reschedule these events, if possible, this year. We thank you for your understanding during this time.
Have a Great Weekend,
Cheryl Daley, Principal

Welcome back from what we hope was a great week of vacation. The students seemed rested and ready to go. We started this week with a special presentation to kick off our Kids Heart Jumprope Challenge. More information can be found below. We are excited to see how much is raised this year and what accomplishments the students may make in jump roping.
Our Annual Daughters' Night Out is coming up on March 27 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM. Registration forms went home this week and are due back by March 20. You can also pay at the door if necessary. We are so excited for this wonderful event.
Finally, we had some special guests yesterday come and read to our students. The Bedford High School Boys' and Girls' hockey teams spent some special time with our students and in some cases in their old classrooms. It has become a nice tradition enjoyed by all. Good luck to the boys' team as they continue their playoff push.
