Dear PWS Families,
This first week of school has been one of the best that many of us can remember. It's obvious that the students had a great summer and are now ready to learn in their new grade level. We have been getting into classrooms to read a story and talk about the importance of kindness. While we get some adorable and funny responses to our questions, it is pretty clear that the students understand all there is to know about being kind. At the end of these talks, the students are given the Bedford Anti-Bullying Partnership Agreement. We ask that you take a moment to sit down with your son or daughter, read this agreement, sign and return it to school. Please let us know if you have any questions.
A special thank you to everyone for following our morning drop off and parent pick up procedures. Both drop off and pick up have gone relatively issue free.  Your cooperation has certainly made this possible.
Here are a few photos showing how we are building our community during these first few days of school. First Days Slide Show

VOLUNTEER ORIENTATION AT PWS
The PWS Volunteer Coordinators will be hosting a Volunteer Orientation Breakfast on Friday, Sept 6th, at 9 AM in the PWS Multi-Purpose Room.  Please join us to hear about all of the exciting Volunteer Opportunities available at PWS this year and meet some of the event and program coordinators to answer any questions that you may have.  Younger children are welcome!
PWS Strings Club
We are pleased to be able to offer a beginners String Club for 3rd and 4th grade students. This club will meet on Wednesdays for 14 weeks. The first session begins soon. Please click on the link for more information and how to sign up.
Parent Pick Up Changes
This year we will be changing Parent Pick up slightly. First off we are asking that parents enter through the parent pick up doors into the multi purpose room and continue walking until you are near the hallway doors, this is where we will dismiss children to you HERE is a map of what we are thinking. We also will be checking IDs more regularly this year. To begin the year, we will be checking EVERYONE'S ID until we get to know you. In order to make this move smoothly we will also institute two check up areas; one for those of you who use the laminated slips, and the other for those that fill out slips. As the year goes on and you become familiar to the staff on duty, we will not be checking your ID, but please always have it with you just in case.
If you would like a laminate check out slip please fill out THIS FORM by September 6. We will get them to you starting the week of September 15.

BACK TO SCHOOL GREETINGS FROM THE PTG!
We are looking forward to another great school year full of fantastic programs and events for our students, staff and families.
SUPPORT THE PTG
Help the PTG continue to bring exciting programs/speakers to our schools like Project Nature, Wildlife Encounters, Music In Technology, David Flood Motivational Speaker, and Chris Herren Drug Prevention Speaker. If you’d like to make a donation, simply click on the PayPal link at www.bedfordptg.org or send in a check payable to Bedford PTG in the support envelopes that have been sent home (K-6) or an envelope labeled with your name and email address. Click  HERE   for more information on the PTG and programs funded with your support. Thank You!
LOOKING TO VOLUNTEER
Bedford PTG is again offering a faster, paperless way to share your information for volunteering for Bedford Schools. Instead of sending home a paper volunteer form to fill out and return, we now offer a Volunteer Google Form for each school. To access the form click HERE for PWS's form, or check school websites, or the PTG website www.bedfordptg.org under PTG Forms for the other schools. You need to fill this form out from each school that your children attend in order to hear about volunteer opportunities at the schools or district wide.  This form must also be filled out every year as we do not retain contact information from year to year!
PTG VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
Looking for some great opportunities to volunteer this year? The PTG has several district level and committee positions available…

Color Blast Fun Run Committee Members: Get in on the Colorful Fun and be part of planning this amazing community event!! Dear Wonderful PWS Families,

Welcome to the weekly PWS Principals' Blog. We will send it out weekly on Fridays at 5 PM. You will be notified by text and email, if you have provided that info in Infosnap. Each week we include a message from us, upcoming dates, school information, PTG information, Community Information, and Repeated Messages. In this week's edition there is important information regarding changes to Parent Pick Up, please scroll down to view. We thank you in advance for taking the time to read and be informed.

We can hardly believe that the school year is here. The staff has been here since Wednesday getting ready for an amazing year. We look forward to seeing many of you this Monday at our Meet and Greet from 1:30 to 3:00. This year we will be holding a parent information session during Meet and Greet from 2:15 to 2:30.
