February 17, 2017

Dear PWS Families,
Thank you so much for making our annual Family Fun Night such a fantastic event.  The first session ran very smoothly with all our BHS student volunteers and wonderful activities.  The second session was great as well, however we recognize there was a major glitch with the pizza.  In being direct, we miscounted and simply did not order enough pizza and we deeply apologize to those families that this impacted. We hope that this did not put a damper on an otherwise enjoyable night.  We have learned from this mistake and next year we will triple count and order 20 percent more than is needed. Again, we know this should not have happened and want to reassure you we will not have this problem next year.

In addition to our many snow days and delays, there is now a lot of snow and not a lot of places to put it. This has added an obstacle to our parking lot. Our town and maintenance crews have done a great job to try and keep the parking lots and walk ways clear. However, the snow is also creating some blind spots in our parking lot. Please keep this in mind when driving through. We have had some unsettling, close calls lately. We appreciate everyone’s additional attention and focus in this area to keep and maintain the safety of all the PWS families. Thank You!

We want to let you know that we have finalized the dates for our Father/ Daughter Dance and Mother/ Son Event.
Father/ Daughter Dance will be on April 14th from 6:00 - 8:00.
Mother/ Son Event will be on on May 5th from 6:00 - 8:00
Make sure to save these dates for what is sure to be a great time by all. More details will be coming.

Finally, next week is a Spirit Week. Here are the themes for each day:

Wednesday 2/22: Wacky Wednesday-be creative!
Thursday 2/23: Dress up as a favorite book or movie character

PWS Happenings
Invention Convention
This year’s Invention Convention is upon us. We are very excited to see the products of so many students’ hard work. This year we will be doing things a bit differently. Instead of having everything happen in one morning, it will now be divided over two days. Here are the details about parent visitations for the convention:
On Monday, the third grade visitation for parents will be in their classroom from 1:30 pm-2:00 PM.
On Tuesday, the fourth grade visitation for parents will in the multipurpose room from 9:30- 10:00 AM

From the Community
Bedford Food Pantry – Items Needed for Children
Food Insecurity is a growing concern across the nation and right here in our own backyard.  Nearly 350 adults and children in Bedford qualify for food stamps and more than 167 families in Bedford meet the income standards for the government’s free school lunch program.
In light of these numbers, the Bedford Food Pantry has started a new program, School Lunch Plus, to provide students in Bedford who face food insecurity two lunches each weekend (with complete privacy/anonymity).  In order to provide two lunches for each student in need, the Food Pantry is looking for donations of these specific items.
If you are able to donate these items (these are ongoing donations), please bring them by the Bedford Food Pantry at the Bedford Presbyterian Church, 4 Church Road, Bedford, NH.
Parents/guardians, please contact the school guidance counselor or school nurse if you would like your child to participate in this program.
