Peter Woodbury School- A Place Where People Care!
September 6, 2019
Dear PWS Families,
The second week of school is done and the excitement and energy of the new school year is still high. We continued our visits in the classrooms this week and are encouraged by how well the students are taking our message about being kind and spreading kindness. This morning during morning announcements we reminded the students of our PWS School Rules which are:
PWS Students:
- Are Kind
-Are Safe
- Take Care of Each Other and Our School
-Try Our Best
This morning was our annual PTG Welcome Back Breakfast. It was great to see familiar faces and plenty of new ones as well. The PTG is vital to all that we do here at PWS. We are excited to see what the school can accomplish this year with this great partnership. If you haven't already, be sure to sign up. We are confident that everyone has some gift that can be shared through the PTG to continue to make PWS such an amazing school and community.
Here are some scenes from our second week of school to enjoy:

From the PTG
Volunteer Orientation: Thank you to all who attended our Volunteer Orientation breakfast this morning!  We are excited to have an enthusiastic group of parents to join us in the many volunteering efforts in our school this year.
Volunteer Form: Any interested volunteers MUST fill out a volunteer form (located HERE) in order to be notified of opportunities within the school as well as throughout the school district. This form must be filled out every year as we do not retain contact information from year to year.
Event & Program Coordinator Opportunities:  PWS has many programs and events throughout the year that have volunteers in place to coordinate them.  We are in need of coordinators for the following events & programs:
Grandparents & Seniors Day (event is in May, planning begins mid-winter) - Need two shadows for the current coordinators.  Ideally, parents of children in 2nd grade or younger with interest in coordinating the event after 2020.
Yearbook (yearlong) - Need one or two coordinators to join current coordinators on the development of the PWS yearbook.  Must be parents of children in 3rd grade or younger with interest to continue on as coordinator(s) after 2020.
Girls Night Out/Boys Night Out (GNO event is in March - planning begins in January, BNO event is in May - planning begins in March) - Need coordinators for both events.  We have volunteers interested in assisting with the planning of the events & executing the day-of tasks but both of these events require a coordinator in order to take place.
If interested in any of these coordinator positions, please contact Kelly O'Donnell (kellydurrigan@comcast.net).SUPPORT THE PTG
Help the PTG continue to bring exciting programs/speakers to our schools like Project Nature, Wildlife Encounters, Music In Technology, David Flood Motivational Speaker, and Chris Herren Drug Prevention Speaker. If you’d like to make a donation, simply click on the PayPal link at www.bedfordptg.org or send in a check payable to Bedford PTG in the support envelopes that have been sent home (K-6) or an envelope labeled with your name and email address. Click  HERE   for more information on the PTG and programs funded with your support. Thank You!
LOOKING TO VOLUNTEER
Bedford PTG is again offering a faster, paperless way to share your information for volunteering for Bedford Schools. Instead of sending home a paper volunteer form to fill out and return, we now offer a Volunteer Google Form for each school. To access the form click HERE for PWS's form, or check school websites, or the PTG website www.bedfordptg.org under PTG Forms for the other schools. You need to fill this form out from each school that your children attend in order to hear about volunteer opportunities at the schools or district wide.  This form must also be filled out every year as we do not retain contact information from year to year!
