Dear PWS Families,
A reminder that next week is a short week. Teachers will be providing lessons on Monday and Tuesday, Wednesday will continue to be a Personalized Learning Day, and Thursday and Friday we will all take off as a mini vacation to rest, unplug, and take a break. We hope these days are helpful and beneficial for all of you.
To celebrate National Library Week, Mrs. Baldi will be running a raffle through her blog. More information can be found below. Fill out the form below by Sunday, May 3rd and she'll randomly choose one student to win a Ladybug Picture Book from among the 2019 nominees. Best of luck!
If you are looking for something fun and kind to do with your days off next week or with the remainder of remote learning we want to provide you this idea. Please consider completing this Kindness BINGO board with your family. As always, please send pictures. We love feeling connected in anyway we can.
Over the weekend, the technology department will be pushing out some much needed updates to the district Chromebooks. You will likely not notice any changes or issues. In order for the Chromebook to take advantage of the updates the students may need to login and logout of their Chromebook at some point over the weekend. Thanks for your understanding.
We know that these are very trying times, and Remote Learning is not easy!  If your family is struggling with it above and beyond what is expected (for any reason—personal or academic), please reach out to us so that we may connect you with resources and assist you in anyway we can.  We are here to help!
We miss you all, please enjoy the few days off next week to refresh and recharge,
Cheryl Daley, Principal
Dan Mitchell, Assistant Principal

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
The PTG has several Board and District level positions open for 2020/21. If you are interested or would like more information on any of the roles below please email BedfordNHPTG@gmail.com
PTG Co-President – This is a shared volunteer role responsible for overseeing the functions of the PTG. The Co-Presidents work closely with other PTG board members and district level coordinators to ensure PTG programs, events and fundraisers are carried out. Co-Presidents also host monthly PTG board meetings, assist with creation of PTG budget, and are the PTG point of contact with the Superintendent. No experience needed, training provided.
District Gift Card Coordinator  - Work with the Gift Card coordinators at each school, as well as the VP of Fundraising to coordinate and execute the PTG Gift Card fundraising event. Help secure and collect gift cards from local participating businesses.  The Gift Card fundraiser runs mid-October until late December.
McKelvie PTG School Co-Liaison - This role is a great way to get to know administration and staff along with being part of the PTG executive board. The liaison is the main point of contact between McKelvie and the PTG and is responsible for supporting PTG/school events. The Liaison also works closely with the Volunteer Coordinator and Hospitality making the ultimate McKelvie Volunteer Team!

Repeated Information

Remote Learning Plan
Understanding that we cannot replicate the same education that would have happened if there had not been a Covid-19 pandemic, we are making an adjustment to our weekly schedule.   As a school, we are constantly looking for the best ways to support all students. We believe that utilizing a model that lends itself to greater flexibility will be beneficial for our school community.  Starting next week we will dedicate Wednesday to support the personalization of learning. Please note, this is not a day off for students as they are expected to participate in their learning. Instead of receiving direct whole-class instruction, Wednesday is a day that may include targeted instructional opportunities and/or allow for more student choice and enrichment. We are hopeful that this change to the remote learning schedule will assist in giving students a little less screen time and a little more choice in their learning.  Stay safe and be healthy!
Playgrounds Closed
In an attempt to prevent the spread of COVID-19, all district playgrounds and school yards are closed at this time. While this decision pains us greatly, we hope that with everyone's cooperation we can all be back to playing and enjoying our magnificent school yard as soon as possible.
