Friday, January 22, 2016

Dear PWS Families,
Happy Friday! This Wednesday night we had the opportunity to watch Mrs. Stallone’s class perform The Mitten. The class did such a nice job and it was nice to see the families come back on a cold January night. Today was our Patriots Rally Day and Wednesday we celebrated National Penguin Day.

PWS Happenings
Family Math and Literacy Night
Feb. 17th
6:00-7:15 pm
Please join us for an evening of fun, games and excitement!  Come and play various games that reinforce math and reading concepts your child experiences in school.  There will be extra direction sheets for most games so that you can practice those skills with your child at home.  Hope to see you all there!!!

Yearbook Reminder!!
2015-2016 PWS Yearbook order deadline is Friday, January 29th!
Please order online HERE and click on “buy your yearbook” or you can send in the order form your child received at school.  If you need an extra copy, the main office has some.

Parent Morning Drop Off
During morning drop off this morning we were impressed by how the students knew how to get out of the car with all their stuff (backpacks and snow gear).  We noticed the independence of the students helped the traffic move along faster.  Thanks for all your help with this.

Spelling Bee Winners
The PWS school Spelling Bee took place today.  All the students worked really hard and it was a wonderful event!  We want to congratulate Chris Bourgault for being the runner up and Adithya Puninchittaya for being the 2016 Spelling Bee Winner! Adithya will now represent Peter Woodbury School at the State competition.

Deliberative Session Feb. 2 at 7:00 p.m. BHS Theater
All voters in Bedford are urged to come to the Bedford School District Deliberative Session on Tuesday, February 2 at 7:00 p.m. at the Bedford High School Theater. This is when the community either affirms or revises the School Board’s proposed budget for 2016-17 (The budget is presented in the School District Warrant.). The proposed budget is $68.3M, a 3.9% increase over this year. The increase is primarily because of personnel, health insurance benefits, and significant building maintenance.
Voting on the warrant is on Tuesday, March 8 from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m
at the Bedford High School gymnasium.  If the proposed budget is voted down, the default budget would be $2.3M lower.  Additional information can be found here.
