Dear PWS Families,
Happy Friday!  Although it was a short week there is lots happening at PWS at the end of the school year!

We had a great time at our Annual 4th Grade Egg Drop Challenge. After five rounds, only one egg survived. Congratulations to Sam Trent, this year’s Egg Drop Champion. A special thank you to the Bedford Fire Department and Mr. Carpenter for helping out with this great event. Here are some photos from the event:

Third Grade Artist in Residence
Over the past week, our third grade students have participated in a Drums Alive residency with artist Peg Keeler. Drums Alive unites students of all abilities and backgrounds using rhythm, fundamental movement and fitness skills, drumsticks, stability balls and fun.
Our music and physical education teachers, Mrs. Curran and Mrs. Ferenc, are very excited to be able to offer this program to our students. This residency was paid for with funds generously donated by the PTG. Thank you!! Any interested third grade parents are invited to join us for the final All School Meeting performance on Monday, June 6th from 1:15-2:15 in the multi-purpose room.

Community Events
Four Way Stops on County Road to Continue
The intersections at Nashua Road and County Road in front of Bedford High School and at Liberty Hill Road and County Road in front of McKelvie School will remain 4-way stop intersections through the end of the school year.  On May 25, Bedford Police Department met with the school district, the Department of Public Works and our engineering consultant and decided to extend the temporary change.  More information can be found at the Bedford Police Department website.

Tree Clearing and Other Summer Construction Projects
The Bedford School District completes significant maintenance projects every summer.   McKelvie is having an older section of roof replaced and getting an upgrade to two student bathrooms in need of replacement.  At Peter Woodbury, the parking lot is being replaced and traffic flow is being reconfigured.  You may notice this project in late June or early July when the trees in front of Peter Woodbury are removed to make way for the expanded parking lot.

Social Media: A Predator's Playground
On April 4, the Bedford Police Department's Detective Matt Fleming presented Social Media: A Predator’s Playground to the community.  Here is the video link in case parents want to watch.  Social Media: A Predator's Playground Presented by the NHICAC and the Bedford Police Department, Bedford High School, April 4, 2016
