June 2, 2017

Dear PWS Families,
What a great week at PWS!  We had our annual Kindergarten and First grade orientations this week.  Look out PWS here comes a whole new set of students! We are excited for them to become a part of our community.  This also reminds us of our fourth graders who will be moving up to McKelvie.  We were watching them in class, at lunch, and recess. We are amazed at how much they have grown.  They are such an amazing group of students who have helped us grow as educators.  Thank you to all the parents for making their PWS journey a successful one!

PWS Happenings
PWS Field Day
Field Day activities for grades 1-4 will take place on Thursday, June 8th with a rain date of Friday, June 9th. The third and fourth grade field day will take place in the morning from 8:30 to 11:00 and field day for first and second grade will begin at 12:00 and end at 2:00.

Sunscreen and appropriate dress are suggested. Please have your child wear cool comfortable clothes such as: sneakers, shorts, a class color or theme appropriate shirt, and a hat. Your child should also come to school with sunscreen and bug repellent already applied at home. Children should bring a water bottle and an extra change of clothes and towel just in case they get wet at the water stations. Water coolers will be available to refill their water bottles. A snack of Popsicles is often provided by the room parents or teachers at the rest station as well.

If you have any questions regarding field day please feel free to call me, Mrs. Ferenc, at 622-0431 ext. 24265 or e-mail at ferencj@sau25.net.

Using an iPhone or iPad, your child will use DevKit to explore the fundamentals of coding and app development, while creating their very own app that will be published to the Apple App Store at the end of the week!

The Bedford camp session will be held at Bedford High School from August 7-10. Each day will consist of a 3 hour session beginning at 9:00AM and ending at 12:00PM. The 5:1 student-teacher ratio will ensure that every camper gets all the help they need to complete their app by the end of Day 4 on Thursday.

A Note from Mrs. Ewing
At this time of year, the students may spend a little more time outdoors. It would be a good idea for parents to apply sunscreen and/or bug repellent before the students arrive each day. We are not able to reapply during the school day.  Please remember to apply sun block as well.
