Peter Woodbury School-A Place Where People Care!

October 2nd, 2020

Dear PWS Families,

We hope that you have had a fantastic week! PWS was a busy place this week as we put the month of September in the rear view mirror and have begun to embrace the autumn season! The PTG New Family Orientation was a success and it was awesome to meet some new families that have moved to Bedford. It is always wonderful to find time to connect with our community and strengthen the school to home relationship. Please take a moment to read up on some reminders and updates from our school and the PTG! We hope you have some time to rest and relax with your children this weekend, we know the fall can be a very busy time of the year!

PWS Notes:

Seasonal Clothing:

This is a friendly reminder that as we move into the fall season that students should be dressing appropriately to be comfortable in the cooler weather. We plan on continuing to use our outdoor learning spaces throughout October, having a sweatshirt or light jacket will be beneficial!

Halloween at PWS:

Unfortunately, due to the unique circumstances the annual Halloween Parade will not be taking place on school grounds this year. While we are disappointed we will still encourage students to bring in their costumes (date to be determined) to celebrate. More information will be provided in the coming weeks.

Message from Enrichment:

Please visit Mrs. Speaker's website/blog where you can find ideas for enrichment and extension using the tab "Family Resources."  Do you think you know the Riddle of the Week?  Check out my new Riddle tab and fill out the Google Form on my site!

Fourth Grade Families - a mini version of Coming to America is underway!  Please check the "Coming to America" tab on my website for more information.

PTG Notes:

SUPPORT OUR SCHOOLS:

This year through donations and Fundraisers the PTG intends to help fund…

  • Enhancing outdoor spaces/playground improvements

  • COVID mitigations supplies for teachers/classrooms

  • Virtual programming and events for students, staff and families

  • Assisting with student needs through guidance and nurse department support

We couldn’t do it without your continued support. This year more than ever the PTG will rely on the generosity of our community. To support the PTG you can donate through PayPal by clicking HERE or by check made out to Bedford PTG (turn into your child’s school or mail to PO Box 10077 Bedford, NH). Through our Support Drive, 100% of your donation goes directly to the schools and students of Bedford.

MEADOW FARMS GIFTS, WRAP AND MORE: Looking for quality gift wrap, everyday gifts, tote bags, and gourmet mixes? Our popular  GIFTS, WRAP, AND MORE  fundraiser is just around the corner. Brochures will be coming home with elementary students at the beginning of October. Online ordering only this year. 40% of sales goes back to our schools and orders ship directly to home! Sale runs from October 9-23.

LOOKING TO VOLUNTEER: The schools and the PTG appreciate your patience and understanding as we continue to focus on the safety of staff and students while minimizing volunteers in the buildings at this time. We will communicate volunteer needs as the PTG is made aware of them. Please complete a Volunteer Google Form for each school you have a child attending. To access the form click PWS Volunteer Form or you can find them on the PTG website www.bedfordptg.org under PTG Forms. You need to fill this form out in order to hear about volunteer opportunities at the schools or district wide.

SKI, SKATE AND MORE SALE FOR 2020 CANCELLED: We regret that we will not be able to host this event this year and we look forward to bringing it back in 2021.

COMMUNITY EVENTS WITH ADMINISTRATION: A special thank you to our Principals for taking time out of their schedules to share information about the start of the school year and answering the community’s questions at the PTG’s annual Meet Our Principals event.
