Peter Woodbury School-A Place Where People Care!

October 9th, 2020

Dear PWS Families,

A happy Friday to you all! We would like to begin by thanking the PWS community for your continued support throughout the beginning months of this school year. It has truly been wonderful to observe students making growth and achieving goals during the first month and a half of school. Your children have been working very hard both in the classroom and remotely and their effort shows. Festive student art work is beginning to occupy the halls at PWS especially by our kindergarten classrooms! The children have done a nice job making the walls "pop" and come to life. We hope that all families find some time to rest and relax with an extra day over the weekend. Please take a moment to catch up on some of the news and happenings from PWS!

Substitutes:

Looking for ways to be involved in the schools? Bedford School District is in need of substitute teachers. New increased pay rate of $100/day. Flexible schedule based on your availability. You will need to be available and able to work in-person and you will be responsible for managing the classroom and daily duties of the absent teacher. Halloween at PWS:

Although the school year may look a little different that does not mean that elements of the autumn season will be ignored! On both Wednesday, October 28th and Thursday, October 29th PWS will be celebrating Halloween! Grade level teams will be organizing some festive activities for their students to participate in. Students are encouraged to bring their costumes that can fit over their clothing. Your child’s classroom teacher will be sending home more information about these days in the near future.

Destination Imagination:

Registration is now open for Destination Imagination.  New and returning students must complete this google form. Registration closes on Friday October 16th, 2020. Destination Imagination is an extracurricular program that requires parent volunteers.  There is no guarantee that your child will be placed on a team, but we work very hard to place every child who registers.

NEW INFO K-6 teams may not use school facilities for meetings. Teams who wish to come together outside of the schools must adhere to the same safety precautions as in school, with regards to masks and social distancing. Most teams will meet virtually this year.  For more info on this wonderful extracurricular program offered by our district, please check out www.nh-di.org or contact our coordinator, Marie Russell at bedfordrocksdi@gmail.com

From the Library:

Some students are having a difficult time remembering to return their books on their library day.  If this happens, your child will choose new books during their library time.  We will hold the books behind the circulation desk in the library.  The next time your child comes to school, they can swap their old library books for their new ones.  It's important to us that students feel a sense of ownership in their library time and choose books that capture their interests.

Happy reading, Mrs. Baldi

  • Enhancing outdoor spaces/playground improvements

  • COVID mitigation supplies for teachers/classrooms

  • Virtual programming and events for students, staff and families

  • Assisting with student needs through guidance and nurse department support

To support the PTG you can donate through PayPal by clicking HERE or by check made out to Bedford PTG (turn into your child’s school or mail to PO Box 10077 Bedford, NH). Through our Support Drive, 100% of your donation goes directly to the schools and students of Bedford.

LOOKING TO VOLUNTEER: The schools and the PTG appreciate your patience and understanding as we continue to focus on the safety of staff and students while minimizing volunteers in the buildings at this time. In order to hear about volunteer opportunities either IN SCHOOL or available REMOTELY you will need to fill out a Volunteer Google Form for each school that you have a child in. We will communicate volunteer needs as the PTG is made aware of them. To access the form click (PWS Volunteer Form) or you can find them on the PTG website www.bedfordptg.org under PTG Forms.

COMMUNITY EVENTS WITH ADMINISTRATION: A special thank you to our Principals and Assistant Principals for taking time out of their schedules to meet and share information about their particular school with new families of the Bedford School District.

SKI, SKATE AND MORE SALE FOR 2020 CANCELLED: We regret that we will not be able to host this event this year and we look forward to bringing it back in 2021

We wish all of you a safe and happy long weekend!
