Peter Woodbury School-A Place Where People Care!

March 26, 2021

Dear PWS Families,

Happy first week of spring! It was another great five days at PWS as we head into the beginning of April. As the weather has started to warm up many classes have resumed their learning outside on our beautiful school yard. Fourth graders have continued learning about the state of New Hampshire. Mrs. Beauparlant’s class designed some awesome New Hampshire vanity license plates that are on display for all of the students to see! Learning is certainly in full swing as the different grade levels prepare for the end of Quarter 3 on April 2nd.

Guest Riders on Buses:

A note from our Transportation Coordinator, Anne Wiggin… we are not allowing guest riders on the buses at this time.  Since ridership numbers are increasing, we expect that mitigation measures and contact tracing will be more difficult if we were to include guests.

Important reminders from the Health Office:

If your child exhibits any Covid-19 symptoms, your child should stay home and it is strongly recommended to have your child tested.  Your child may return to school once your child is feeling well, 24 hours symptom free without fever reducing medication and has a negative covid test.  Please check with the school nurse to be cleared to return to school.

Allergy season is upon us with the warmer days we have been having. If you child has seasonal allergies, please get a note from your child’s pediatrician for the nurse to keep on file for this school year.  DHHS recommends testing for any new or unexplained symptoms.

Travel and Contact Tracing Guidance (Updated):

  • Domestic travel within the U.S. is still discouraged however, no longer requires quarantine upon return to NH (regardless of COVID-19 vaccination status). This includes domestic travel to U.S. territories. Even though a person may not be required to quarantine, the CDC does suggest that people seek testing 3-5 days after returning from travel for asymptomatic SARS-CoV-2 infection.  Children will be allowed to attend school while awaiting the test results.

  • NH DPHS will not recommend quarantine for students or staff if a COVID-19 exposure occurs in the classroom setting where students and staff are seated and spaced at least 3 feet apart with consistent and correct face mask use.

  • The 3 feet of distancing applies to controlled areas only (i.e. classrooms).  It does not apply to recess, lunch and bus.  Those areas will still be contact traced based on 6 feet of distancing.

Parent Drop Off:

We thank you for your continued support during our Phase Changes to make parent drop off and pick up a success. We need to remind you all that if you miss the parent dropoff time of 7:30-7:55am it is expected that parents will park their vehicle and then walk their student into the school building. Thank you for your understanding.

SAS Testing:

3rd and 4th Grade Families: Please take some time to review PWS’s plan for statewide assessments for this school year. Use this RESOURCE for more information and planning.

BEEP:

Registration is now open for the 2021-2022 School Year for the Bedford Early Education Program (BEEP) at Memorial School. Class assignments are based on your child’s age as of September 30, 2021 and availability. Registration paperwork is available at Memorial School and classroom availability is on a first come first serve basis.

Please contact Katie Ryan with any further questions about the BEEP Program 627-1776 ext 23216.

School Buses:

The school buses continue to be an option for transportation to and from school. Parents, please send a note to teachers when changing your student’s mode of transportation from parent pick up to the bus. Parents, if your student is taking the bus for the first time, please talk to them about their address and bus stop.
