PWS PrinciPal’s News
PWS Families,

Business was definitely booming in our lobby this week. Between the classes visiting and
families coming back in the afternoon, our wonderful Book Fair volunteers were kept on
their toes. We enjoyed seeing so much excitement about buying books and reading. Once
we know how much this event has raised we will let you know.

Two of our Destination Imagination Teams (Team Emojis and The Pioneers of Treasure)
will be participating in the state DI tournament this weekend, hosted on our home turf of
Bedford High School. Best of luck to these two teams. We know you will represent us well.

The Parent Portal is now open to view Third Quarter Report Cards. If you haven't already,
please be sure to sign up for Parent Conferences with your child's teacher.

Finally, over the next few weeks, in our blog and through email, you will be getting
information regarding the Tripod Student Survey and NH SAS Assessment.  Please also look
at your child’s classroom website for information regarding the Gates Assessments. As
always, if you have any questions please feel free to reach out to either of us and we will be
happy to assist you.

Have a great weekend,
Cheryl Daley (Principal)
Dan Mitchell (Assistant Principal)

From the Superintendent
2018-19 School Calendar
The School Board has approved the 2018-19 School Calendar. Please note that there is a
substantial change for 2018-19. The district will shift from tracking days to tracking hours. As
a result, the last day of school for 2018-19 will be no later than June 13 and could be as early
as June 6. The first five snow days, if needed, will be made up by students at the end of the
year. Any snow days beyond five days will not need to be made up by students. This should
bring some more predictability to the end of the year for families.

Repeated News & Messages
School Start Time
Hopefully winter is behind us and we can get back to a consistent schedule without
unexpected snow days and delays. As we move towards more normalcy we want to remind
you that the school start time is 8:00 AM. Students must be in their class at 8:00 AM or they
will be marked as tardy.

The number of tardy students has started to increase so we want to take this opportunity to
remind everyone of the importance of students starting on time. The climate of the classroom
is set at the beginning of the day and it is important for all students to experience the morning
meetings and other routines teachers have in place to transition from home to school. Thank
you for your assistance with this.

Safety Updates
Thank you to all the parents that follow the morning safety procedures by parking their cars
and walking their students into the school. In saying that, several parents have expressed
concerns about morning traffic in the front of the school.  Please remember that all students
should be dropped off at the back of the building between 7:30 am and 7:50 am. If you arrive
after this time, and the flag is up, then pull to the front of the building, park your car, and walk
your child(ren) in.  It is not safe for students to be dropped off in the parking lot, or the lanes
with coming and going traffic. We really appreciate your assistance with this.

Students sometimes forget their lunch, snow gear, sneakers, etc. Since you are such great
parents you sometimes come and drop off your child's items.  We will now have our
receptionist, Mrs. Assetta, take the items and make sure they get to your child. Instructional
time is very precious and we want to protect this.  Thanks again for all your support.
