Peter Woodbury School-A Place Where People Care!

September 11th, 2020

Dear PWS Families,

It was awesome to welcome our students back after a nice and long Labor Day weekend! Routines are becoming established over here at PWS both in-person and remotely. It has been impressive to watch the students become comfortable with their schedules and returning to life in school. Please take a moment to check out some important announcements and happenings around PWS.

We wish everyone a wonderful weekend!

PWS Updates:

Hybrid Quarantining Protocol for Absences and Work:

Quarantined students will be marked absent on the days they are scheduled to be in-school (A-K or L-Z) and present on their scheduled Distance Learning days, provided that they are able to do the work that the teacher has assigned.  Teachers will not be able to provide instruction to students who are quarantined as they will be instructing the students in the building.  Please reach out to your child's teachers to be able to access make-up work that can be done at home.  Students may not be able to have access to all missing assignments, depending on the nature of the activities.

Student Service Tickets

Student Support Tickets are now available!  These are to be used for students/parents on distance learning days.  Please click on this document for clear directions for access. Each grade level will have a staff member for an hour a day to support students. Please see the  Student Support Ticket that will be available for you to fill out.

Hybrid Open House/Remote Open House

This year's Open House will be virtual and on Thursday, September 24th.  Teachers will be focusing on the following topics: What does in-school learning look like? What does distance learning look like for students?  What does remote learning look like? There will be time for parents to ask questions.

Envelopes will be sent home with students next week.  A link is  included for those who wish to order online rather than use the envelopes.

Remote Student Picture

There will be two  photographers for the remote students set up outside in the Butterfly Garden on the same days as the in-school students. However, for remote students, the appointment schedule is as follows: 9/23 and 9/24; from 3:00 to just after 5:00, appointments are five minutes a piece and there are two slots per appointment time. Community Notes:

NH Tackles Hunger Virtual Food Drive

Over the next month, residents of NH, businesses, schools and more will make monetary donations via LINK, and any funds that are collected for your assigned school will be credited to your Food Bank (Bedford Food Pantry) account at the conclusion of the drive. We will notify you then as to how much money was donated to your program via the high school.

Cub Scouts

We are hosting an information night for families interested in joining Cub Scouts. Check out the following link if you are interested!

PTG Notes:

SUPPORT THE PTG: As the district embarks on a very unique school year, the PTG is dedicated to embracing its challenges while continuing to cherish and celebrate past traditions. Due to the uncertainty of this year, the PTG will not be able to host all of its usual events, programs and fundraisers. Although some things may look different this year, the PTG is committed to working directly with the schools to focus on classroom, staff, student and school needs.

This year more than ever the PTG will rely on the generosity of our community. To support the PTG you can donate through PayPal by clicking HERE or by check made out to Bedford PTG (turn into your child’s school or mail to PO Box 10077 Bedford, NH). Through our Support Drive, 100% of your donation goes directly to the schools and students of Bedford.

LOOKING TO VOLUNTEER: We will have information about volunteering for Bedford Schools in the upcoming weeks. Links to a Volunteer Google Form for each school will be available at that time. You will need to fill this form out in order to hear about volunteer opportunities at the schools or district wide.

MEET THE PRINCIPALS EVENT SEPTEMBER 25TH: You are invited to watch the Principals from all six schools at our annual "Meet the Principals" event on Friday, September 25th from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. It will be broadcast live on BCTV. This is a great opportunity to hear information on how our schools are embracing this unique year. Please email questions before Sept. 23 for the Q&A session that follows the presentation to bedfordnhptg@gmail.com.

We hope that everyone has a wonderful and happy weekend, see you next week!

Mrs. Cheryl Daley and Mr. Marc Robitaille
