Peter Woodbury School-A Place Where People Care!

September 4th, 2020

Dear PWS Families,

It has been a fabulous first full week at PWS! It continues to be a joy to welcome our students back into our physical and virtual classrooms!

Please take some time this weekend to praise your students for making the first seven school days as smooth as possible. The PWS staff has been raving about how resilient our students have been adapting to the changes that are put in place to keep everyone safe. It is wonderful to see both the district’s hybrid and remote models up and running with happy and engaged students!

Please take some time to look at our most current updates, events and notes. We wish everyone a happy and safe Labor Day Weekend.

* Please be mindful that Peter Woodbury School is also closed on Tuesday September 8th for New Hampshire State Primaries. We will welcome back our A-K cohort on Wednesday, September 9th and our L-Z cohort on Thursday, September 10th.

Parent Pickup

We have resumed our normal dismissal time for parent pickup beginning at 2:20pm. We encourage you to please refrain from arriving on the school property until 1:50pm. Thank you for your cooperation and patience.

Travel Reminder

As we enter the long Labor Day weekend, please keep in mind the NH DHHS travel regulations, which the Bedford School District is following:

NH residents...traveling to/from areas outside of New England...need to self-quarantine for the first 14 days.…(starting from the last day of their travel outside of New England). This recommendation is irrespective of the mode of transportation for travel.

Also, students cannot test out of quarantine with a negative COVID-19 test.  They must complete the entire 14 days. Please take a look at our Quarantining Protocol/Flowchart for more information. In order to ensure the health and safety of our students and staff, it is essential that we adhere to the policies and procedures outlined in our Hybrid plan.

Student Service Tickets

Starting September 9th our Student Support Tickets will be available.  These are to be used for students/parents on distance learning days.  Please click on this document for clear directions for access. Each grade level will have a staff member for an hour a day to support students. These are the times that are scheduled for each grade level.  Please see the  Student Support Ticket that will be available for you to fill out.

School Pictures

School pictures will be held on Wednesday, 9/23 and Thursday, 9/24. This year all individual photos will be taken outside in the Butterfly Garden under canopies. Envelopes will be sent home with students next week.  A link is  included for those who wish to order online rather than use the envelopes.

Remote Student Pictures

Pictures for remote students will also be taken on 9/23 and 9/24 beginning at 3:00. A Sign up Genius with 5 minute appointment slots will be sent to parents next week.  Here is the link to order school picture on line.

Chromebooks

Students in grades 1-4 have been sent home with a Chromebook and charger this week. Please keep the charger at home until we ask for it to be returned. This will allow your child to charge their Chromebook each day before bringing it back to school. Please note that your child may not have work to complete using their Chromebook each distance learning day but we would like them to get into the habit of bringing it between home and school each day. If your child has a personal Chromebook at home (just for them to use), then feel free to allow him/her to use that one and the school issued Chromebook/charger can be left at school to use for in person days. If you have any questions you can reach out to your child's classroom teacher or our Digital Learning Specialist Mrs. Cassamassino (cassamassinon@sau25.net)

Anti-Bullying Partnership Agreement

Please keep an eye out for a document going home with your child next week about bullying.

The District Bullying Task Force developed a Partnership Agreement among students, teachers, and

families to better understand and address student conflict, and what is and is not considered bullying.

We are asking all families to read, discuss, and sign this document to help ensure a happy, safe, and

nurturing environment for all. Please click HERE if you would like an electronic copy of that agreement.

In addition to the above agreement, teachers will be having a discussion with students about expectations

and following "the Golden Rule" of treating everyone the way they would want to be treated.
