PWS PrinciPal’s News

Dear PWS Families,
This week we were able to get into each classroom to show a short video clip followed by great conversation centered around the importance of making mistakes, learning from mistakes, and appreciating the struggles of learning and growing.  During one of these conversations, a  fourth grader asked, “You mean we need a growth mindset?” That is exactly the message we were trying to convey! We look forward to a fantastic year of learning and growing!

Have a great weekend,
Cheryl Daley (Principal)
Dan Mitchell (Assistant Principal)

News from PWS
Fall Book Fair
This year we will be holding a Fall Book Fair starting on Monday, September 11th and going until Thursday, September 14th. The hours of the book fair are 7:30am-3:45pm. Additionally, the fair will be open during Open House on Tuesday evening. This book fair is in addition to the official PTG Book Fair held in early Spring and provides another opportunity for our students and families to purchase excellent reading materials while supporting the school at the same time. Please look for information from your child’s teacher in regards to what day their class will attending the book fair.

School Pictures
School picture day will be September 19th. Information and order forms were sent home this week. Even if you do not purchase photos, your child will get a picture taken and be part of a group photo. Please let the office know if you need any additional information or order forms.

Open House
This year’s Open House will be Tuesday, September 12th. Grades K-2 are welcome between 5:30pm and 6:30pm, while grades 3 and 4 are welcome between 6:30pm and 7:30pm. Open House is a time for parents and students to get to know the classroom, daily routines, meet the integrated arts specialists, and see what the students have been doing in school so far.

Bus Plan
Riding the bus to and from school is a great opportunity for all of our students. We encourage parents to have a conversation with your child regarding the rules of the bus. Further, it is important to create a plan, as a family, for what your child should do if there is no adult waiting for them to get off the bus. Especially with our younger students, the bus drivers will not let them off the bus if no one is waiting. In these cases your child may be returned to the school. Having a backup plan in place will allow for a smooth and seamless bus ride for all. Thank you for your cooperation with this.
