March 22, 2019

Dear PWS Families,
Well a rainy day is no way to end a week, but it was an amazing week nonetheless. Our second grade cross stitching club had the opportunity to show others what they learned. After lunch, the members of the club helped the rest of the second graders stitch their own creations.

Third quarter is coming to a close next week. Report Cards will be available on the parent portal starting April 5th at 2:45. In the meantime, the parent portal is closed.
March has been our month to support the Bedford Food Pantry. We are still collecting individual pasta meals (i.e. Ramen Noodle cups and Easy Mac). Thank you for those who have already donated.
Finally, today's blog contains a number of opportunities for student to support the Bedford High School Seniors with their senior projects. Please check below for more details about these exciting events.

Have a Great Weekend,
Cheryl Daley, Principal

Kids Heart Challenge
Students have started the Kids Heart Challenge program during their PE class. This was formerly known as Jump Rope for Heart. During this challenge students learn:
  • the importance of developing heart-healthy habits
  • being physically active can be fun and
  • when you raise funds to support research and education you help save lives across the country and in the community. Fundraising is optional but everyone will be having fun and be active jumping rope during their regularly-scheduled PE class.
In order to fundraise for this cause you will head to http://american.heart.org/kidsheartchallenge/ and set up a fundraising page for your child. The first step in setting up your child's page is to enter the name of the school. Please enter our school name as Peter Woodbury Elementary School. Any other search will not yield our school as an option.

BEEP is accepting registrations for the 2019-2020 School Year.  We have space available in many of our 3 and 4 year old classrooms.  Please contact Meghan Fredette , BEEP Program Coordinator at (603) 627-1776 x-23216 or fredettem@bedfordnhk12.net
BEEP  is a regular early childhood program  providing the opportunity for typically developing three and four year old children and children identified as having special needs to learn and play together.  We believe active participation and concrete learning experiences make learning more meaningful for the children and best serve their development and learning. All the children are provided a multi-sensory learning environment in which they utilize all senses in learning new concepts.  Language development and social skills are emphasized throughout the integrated curriculum. Implementation of specialized intervention within natural situations occurs without disrupting the curriculum and educational routines of the classroom.
Staff:
Classrooms are staffed by certified educators with a background in early childhood and special education.  In addition, our staff includes a licensed speech and language pathologist, a speech assistant, licensed occupational therapist, occupational therapy assistant, licensed physical therapist, classroom assistants and a program coordinator.  Educational consultants are available as needed. Throughout a BEEP day, each classroom has a teacher and assistant at all times, and other therapists and paraprofessionals may join the classroom periodically.
Programs:
·Classroom programs for 3 and 4 year olds are provided two, three, four, or five days a week for 2 ½ hours a day.
·The Intensive Needs program offers the opportunity for an individualized self-contained, or partially self-contained program..
·For more specifics, contact the BEEP Program Coordinator.
