We are a community that inspires and develops, engaged, successful learners every chance, every day.
March 29, 2019

Dear PWS Families,
We are looking forward to tonight's Daughter's Night Out. The excitement for this event has been building all week. The cupcakes and decorations are ready to go. We know it is going to be a great night. Thank you to parents Joya Shaheen and Mandi Barwell for spearheading this event.
Another event we are excited for is coming up quickly. The PWS Grandparents Day will be May 3rd. Once again we are asking visitors to park at Target, unless you have a handicapped placard, where we will be running shuttles all morning. We are also asking you to sign up early. While registration can happen the day of the event, early registration is greatly appreciated and makes planning that much easier. To sign up now please follow the link. Grandparents Day Registration
The first grade classes have been learning about Animals that Work. We are lucky to know a former PWS student, Jeff Sampson, who has his own working dog. Jeff and his dog Evie came into first grade classes last week to share about how his dog works, what her job is, and details about what we should do if we are around a working dog. You may have even seen them around Bedford at the grocery store or nearby restaurants.

Third quarter has officially closed. Report cards will be available next Friday, April 5th on the parent portal. Here is a link to instructions on how to access the parent portal. Remember, paper copies are no longer sent home.
Good luck to our two teams competing at Destination Imagination States tomorrow at Nashua North High School.

Have a Great Weekend,
Cheryl Daley, Principal
Dan Mitchell, Assistant Principal

Kids Heart Challenge
Students have started the Kids Heart Challenge program during their PE class. This was formerly known as Jump Rope for Heart. During this challenge students learn:
  • the importance of developing heart-healthy habits
  • being physically active can be fun and
  • when you raise funds to support research and education you help save lives across the country and in the community. Fundraising is optional but everyone will be having fun and be active jumping rope during their regularly-scheduled PE class.
In order to fundraise for this cause you will head to http://american.heart.org/kidsheartchallenge/ and set up a fundraising page for your child. The first step in setting up your child's page is to enter the name of the school. Please enter our school name as Peter Woodbury Elementary School. Any other search will not yield our school as an option.
Students are already jumping and having fun being heart healthy in PE class. Any fundraising needs to be completed by March 29th.

From the Community
BHS Senior, Will Zimmerman, will be running a book drive to benefit CLiF at PWS throughout the month of April for his Senior Project. This drive is to collect new books for the Children’s Literacy Foundation to be distributed to low-income, at-risk, and rural children up to age 12 throughout New Hampshire and Vermont. There will be a collection bin (for books or monetary donations) in the main floor hallway outside of the office. The upcoming Scholastic Book Fair will be a perfect opportunity to both purchase and donate books! Together, we can help ensure a brighter future for the youth of NH and VT! Thank you for your support!

Classrooms are staffed by certified educators with a background in early childhood and special education.  In addition, our staff includes a licensed speech and language pathologist, a speech assistant, licensed occupational therapist, occupational therapy assistant, licensed physical therapist, classroom assistants and a program coordinator.  Educational consultants are available as needed. Throughout a BEEP day, each classroom has a teacher and assistant at all times, and other therapists and paraprofessionals may join the classroom periodically.
